Today's Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain Flushing Most of the Province

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts heavy rains will flush most of Indonesia's provinces.

According to information reported by ANTARA from the BMKG, Thursday, February 9, heavy rain with rainfall of more than 50 millimeters per day has the opportunity to flush parts of the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali.

Parts of the Provinces of West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua are also forecasted to experience heavy rains.

Rain that can be accompanied by lightning has the potential to occur in the Provinces of Aceh, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta Special Region, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, and West Papua.

Meanwhile, strong winds are likely to cover parts of the provinces of Aceh, South Sumatra, Lampung, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta Special Region, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Maluku, and Papua.

The BMKG also stated that the East Java Province was on standby status to face the effects of strong winds.

Heavy rain which can be accompanied by strong winds and lightning has the potential to cause flooding in parts of the Provinces of North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Sulawesi North, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

According to the BMKG early warning, parts of Aceh Province, Yogyakarta Special Region, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku are on alert status for potential flooding.
