Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka agrees more with the democratic-based governor election so that people can play a role in the order of government. "If it can be like now, yes. Let democracy continue to run," he was quoted as saying, Monday, February 6. He said democracy would run by involving the wider community. "Luwih is gayeng (more lively) like this," he said. Even though the election requires a large budget, but he said it would remain useful considering that residents must continue to participate in regional elections. Previously, Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Bambang Soesatyo agreed that the governor was not directly elected by the community through elections but was appointed by the central government. Related to this, Airlangga said as a political party his party must participate in election organizers in this case the KPU. "Because this KPU is a product of laws and laws that make the DPR and the government, the DPR is a representative of political parties," he said.
