JAKARTA - The Pekanbaru City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) is aggressively conducting sudden inspections (sidak) at nightclubs to minimize the presence or activities of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT). Head of the Pekanbaru City Civil Service Police Unit, Zulfahmi Adrian, said that the inspection was in the context of enforcing Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 13 of 2021 concerning Public Order and Public Peace and Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2002 concerning Public Entertainment. "We also remind night entertainment managers to comply with applicable regulations. If they violate, they will be given strict sanctions," he said in Pekanbaru, Antara, Sunday, February 5. The regional regulation in question is that nightclubs are only allowed to operate until 22.00 WIB. Meanwhile, crowd permits are granted until 00.00 WIB. "That's why we remind them not to exceed the limits. We ask them not to pass that hour. In the future, we will certainly continue to carry out surveillance," he concluded. As is known, LGBT's activities received serious attention from the Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru, Muflihun. He admitted that he received many reports from residents regarding the existence of behaviors that were not in accordance with the values and norms that apply in the area nicknamed the Old City. Previously, the contents of a preacher's lecture circulated that LGBT was rife in Pekanbaru, so the local government was asked to firmly eradicate these various negative things for the positive development of the next generation. A few days earlier, the Pekanbaru Satpol PP team raided four nightlife gatherings, namely the New Paragon KTV Pool & Cafe on Jalan Sultan Syarif Qasim, Embassy Pekanbaru Jalan Tengku Zainal Abidin, MP Club Jalan Tengku Zainal Abidin, and Angel Wings Pekanbaru on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. "Of the four places we visited, there were no activities that led to it (LGBT). Likewise with drugs, we did not find any," he said. However, he said, his party still urges night entertainment managers to jointly prevent activities that violate immoral norms, especially LGBT.
