Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo encourages various companies to develop curriculum designs according to their needs as an effort to increase labor absorption for SMK graduates.
"In the future, we hope that this industry on a larger scale can recruit SMK children and I will allow the company to design a curriculum so that it can be appropriate," said Ganjar after attending Cilacap Job And Education (JED) Fair 2023 at SMKN 1 Cilacap Regency, Antara, Thursday, February 2.
According to Ganjar, industry is an opportunity for vocational school graduates to get jobs, both for those who have skills or not so that they ask for suggestions and criticism from the company for the shortcomings of education outcomes at vocational schools.
"Earlier, the company talked about the shortcomings of our vocational school children, sometimes about ethics, communication skills, interpersonal skills, the initiative did not appear. In this way, we can know that our vocational school children need help. Well, earlier, SMK children also said we couldn't work, there was no experience room from the existing conditions, so the internship was not enough for six months, if possible two years. That's what the industry needs," he said.
Ganjar said that this link and match is also very open to outstanding vocational school students from underprivileged families.
Meanwhile, Ganjar has implemented it through various collaborations with the company and initiated free Central Java State Vocational Schools, which 80 percent of its graduates have been absorbed by industry.
"Well, those who are skills, those who have parents can't afford it, we can encourage them like this. The child is brave, has skills, we just need to encourage the company," he said.
The PDI-P politician explained that the high labor absorption capacity of the company from SMK was able to be an indication of reducing poverty.
It is hoped that more industries will absorb quality SMK workers from Central Java.
"This is a way to reduce poverty by mix and match," he said.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has succeeded in absorbing 170,757 workers to various companies throughout 2022. This is Ganjar's consistent efforts in overcoming extreme poverty in Central Java.
