Coming To Medan, Ridwan Kamil Candidate For Advisory To The Malay Cultural Customary Council

The Governor of West Java (Jabar) Ridwan Kamil has been named the Advisory Council for the Executive Board of the Indonesian Malay Cultural Customary Council (PB MABMI) in Medan, North Sumatra.

"It's not that I preceded, but if this is paired, God willing, your good intentions will be achieved," explained the General Chairperson of PB MABMI, Dato Series H Syamsul Arifin, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 1.

This pepper hut is shaped like a keris, but shorter with a wooden cover sarong, one of the traditional weapons symbolizes the symbol of a Malay man.

The traditional weapon was pinned after traditional Malay clothing, such as songket cloth, stepped and pins were paired by PD MABMI administrators as a sign of Ridwan Kamil, a Melayu resident.

Syamsul continued by reading briefly that PB MABMI appointed Dr H Mochamad Ridwan Kamil, ST, MUD, as advisory board for social organizations and Malay culture.

"Hopefully Ridwan Kamil will be successful in his area. Becoming the deputy chairman of the election victory in Golkar, we will pray," said Syamsul, who has the title Datuk Lelawangsa Sri Hidayatullah Putera Melayu.

The man who is not even 71 years old as a Golkar cadre admits that he is very sympathetic to Kang Ridwan Kamil's style, including visiting small communities a week or two in West Java.

MABMI was born on June 18, 1971 in Medan, North Sumatra. Now the organization has been established in 12 provincial level regional administrators throughout Indonesia with 24 districts/cities, 124 sub-districts and 83 sub-district or village level branch administrators.

"Hopefully he's a 'humble' person. I knew him before he became an official. That's the person, not made up. So don't use too many protocols, too many retailers. People just need to be called," said Syamsul.

Milhan Yusuf, an education figure in North Sumatra, believes that Ridwan Kamil is known to have done a lot for West Java in promoting the welfare of the community.

"People should be more independent, like what is being done in Islamic boarding schools. We hope that in the future programs like this can develop, especially in Islamic boarding schools," said Milhan, who is also the General Secretary of PB MABMI.
