The police arrested a group of cross-provincial thieves who acted in Purbalingga Regency, Central Java (Central Java).

"There are five suspects, two of whom have been arrested and processed at the Purbalingga Police," said Purbalingga Police Chief AKBP Era Johny Kurniawan during a press conference at the Purbalingga Police Headquarters, Monday, January 30, confiscated by Antara.

Meanwhile, the other two suspects, he said, underwent legal proceedings at the Cilacap City Police (Polresta) related to the case that occurred in Cilacap Regency, while one other suspect is still being chased and has been on the wanted list (DPO).

According to him, the group of thieves from West Java was arrested for committing theft with a weight that occurred in front of the Arni Shop, Hartono Market complex, Purbalingga, on January 12, 2023, at around 13.30 WIB.

"The perpetrator's mode was by destroying the box car door using a T key and then taking a bag containing Rp70 million in cash stored in the car that was sending the goods," he explained accompanied by the Head of Satresrim Adjunct Police Commissioner Suyanto and the Head of the Public Relations Section of Police Inspector Imam Saefudin.

After an investigation, he said, the suspect, who was a group of specialist thieves who broke into a box car, was arrested in Majenang, Cilacap Regency, on Friday evening, January 27.

The evidence that was successfully secured from the suspects included one Beat motorcycle, one T key, and a wallet containing five Rp100 thousand in cash, one Rp75 thousand in cash, one Rp20 thousand in cash, and one Rp2,000.

"The two suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison," said the Police Chief.

Furthermore, the Head of the Purbalingga Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Suyanto, said that his party was still developing the case even though there was only one crime scene (TKP) in Purbalingga.

According to him, his party is working with the Cilacap Police in arresting the identified suspects in the Majenang area, Cilacap Regency.

"We have not been able to convey the details of their origin because it is still under development. However, the suspects who were detained came from West Java," he said.
