Sandiaga Asks DKI To Help Provide 1,200 Quarantine Rooms For Airplane Passengers From Abroad

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the central government lacked 1,200 rooms for quarantine for Indonesian citizens or foreign nationals arriving in the country from abroad.

This is a government policy that requires all airplane passengers arriving from abroad from December 28 to January 14 to undergo a five-day quarantine.

"Recently I coordinated with Angkasa Pura II, with Pak Kasdam and the Task Force, that we are short of 1200 rooms tonight for a five-day quarantine for both Indonesian citizens and foreigners," Sandi said at Thamrin 10, Central Jakarta.

Therefore, Sandiaga asked the Deputy Governor of DKI, Ahmad Riza Patria, who was also at Thamrin 10, to help provide the passenger isolation room.

This is because, a few days ago, there was a build-up of airplane passengers arriving from abroad at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The buildup occurs because passengers have to wait for delivery preparations to the quarantine location.

"I ask for permission to coordinate with the Deputy Governor, that later I can help provide it so that piles don't occur again like the one that went viral a few days ago," said Sandi.

For information, the government has decided to prohibit foreign nationals (WNA) from entering Indonesia for two weeks in early 2021.

"The limited cabinet meeting on December 28, 2020 decided to temporarily close from January 1 to 14, 2021, the entry of foreign nationals or foreigners from all countries to Indonesia," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Meanwhile, foreigners who arrived in Indonesia from December 28 to December 31 are still allowed to enter Indonesia with strict health protocol provisions.

First, foreigners arriving until December 31st are required to show negative results through the RT-PCR test in the country of origin which is valid a maximum of 2x24 hours before departure time. Also, attach an international Indonesian electronic health alert card (eHAC) during the medical examination.

Upon arrival in Indonesia, the foreigner is required to re-examine the RT-PCR. If it shows a negative result, the foreigner will carry out mandatory quarantine for 5 days from the date of arrival.

"After the 5-day quarantine, re-check the RT PCR and if the results are negative, visitors are allowed to continue their journey," said Retno.
