NasDem Ensures Coalition For Change Will Disband If PKS-Democrat Insist Certain Figures To Accompany Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the NasDem Party Ahmad Ali, ensured that the Coalition for Change initiated by his party with the Democrats and PKS would disband before the declaration. If the political parties as potential coalition partners are still interlocking by submitting certain conditions to support Anies Baswedan's candidacy.

Alias, still forcing the name of a certain figure to become the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.

"If a party imposes its wishes or locks up, or provides certain conditions to support Anies, then I can assure you that this coalition will disband, nothing will happen," Ali told journalists, Wednesday, January 25.

As is known, until now the Democratic Party still wants general chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as Anies' vice presidential candidate. Meanwhile, PKS proposed Deputy Chairman of the Syuro Council Ahmad Heryawan or Aher.

Ali claimed that NasDem supported Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate, not solely for the benefit of his party. However, it is in the interest of the nation, with the hope that the former governor of DKI Jakarta can bring prosperity to the Indonesian people, and continue the development that is being carried out by the government today.

Therefore, Ali asked the political parties as potential coalition partners to have the same views and not to impose their respective interests.

"I hope our coalition partners also share the same view. He should not talk about the interests of his party," said Ali.

Ali also asked potential coalition partners not to make their own analysis of the cawapres figure. They haven't even declared Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate, but have tried proposing the name of their running mate.

"Don't then make your own analysis that this figure is the most appropriate to accompany Anies. That's not fair," he explained.

"I always say that the PKS proposal nominates let's say Ahmad Heryawan or lastly agrees with Khofifah, right, and then the Democrats have to be AHY, NasDem doesn't want to respond to that because NasDem still sees it as a form of party sovereignty, that's their right. But if then we are already involved in one coalition, that's why we talk for the common interest," Ali said.
