JAKARTA - The Director of Indonesian Political Parameters, Adi Prayitno, believes that the joining of the Governor of West Java (West Java) Ridwan Kamil (RK) and the former Governor of East Java (East Java) Soekarwo or Pakde Karwo will change the map of political party (party) vote acquisition in the 2024 election.

He considered that Golkar could become a new competitor for Gerindra in West Java and PDI-P or PKB in East Java in the race for votes. According to him, Golkar is starting to seriously look at the 2024 elections. Mainly in the fight for seats in the DPR.

"I think Golkar is quite serious about 2024, especially at the legislative election level. That they are quite serious about being a challenger, a fighter who will very likely add to the fierce competition to increase the party's seats in the DPR," Adi said in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 25. It is known that in the 2019 elections, the votes in West Java were won by Gerindra, PDIP and PKS. Meanwhile, in East Java, history has just been made by PDIP, which succeeded in shifting PKB to number two.

According to Adi, the joining of RK and Pakde Karwo is part of the political consolidation carried out by the Golkar Party towards a long road in 2024. "At least at the legislative election level, they get additional ammunition, combat troops by joining two important figures Ridwan Kamil and Pakde Karwo," said Adi.

Adi also predicts that Golkar will be able to increase the chances of boosting the party's electability and vote acquisition in West Java and East Java. Golkar is also considered to be able to make the battle in the two regions even more fierce.

"Because whatever the title, Ridwan Kamil is the Governor of West Java, who is currently quite popular, has many idols, and it is very possible that he can capitalize on his position to increase the votes of West Java's Golkar," Adi explained. "The same goes for Pakde Karwo's position, which we know is as a senior politician, he has crossed paths and chose to join Golkar," he added.

Adi added, Golkar's journey to win the 2024 election was made easier by the presence of two strong figures in Indonesian politics.

"I think we can capture two things from how Golkar actually got a windfall, getting key and important figures in West Java and in East Java," he concluded.
