Mount Anak Krakatau Erupsi Again Today, Lontaran Lava It Was Observed That It Could Be As High As 350 Meters

JAKARTA - The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) recorded an eruption in the form of lava ejections as high as approximately 350 meters at the peak of Mount Anak Krakatau in Lampung. Head of PVMBG Hendra Gunawan said in the statement received that the eruption occurred Tuesday at 21.13 WIB. "The flare was observed at a height of approximately 350 meters," Hendra said as quoted by Antara.The eruption of Krakatau children is currently still at Level III or Alert. This means that people are prohibited from approaching the volcano or not active within a radius of five kilometers from the active crater. Along Tuesday, PVMBG noted that there were three eruptions that occurred on Mount Anak Krakatau. The first eruption occurred at 18.50 WIB, the height of the eruption column was not observed. One hour later, the eruption occurred again at 19.57 WIB with a height of ash column approximately 300 meters above the peak, the column of ash appeared to be grayished with thick intensity to the east. The historical record of volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau since the birth of June 11, 1930 to 2000, has experienced an eruption of more than 100 times both explosive and effusive nature.

Of these eruptions, generally the eruption points always move around the cone. The rest time ranges from one to eight years and generally occurs every four years in the form of ash eruptions and lava melting.

The last activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, namely the eruption of ash and lava melting, took place from November 8, 1992, until June 2000. The number of eruptions per day was recorded by a seismograph placed at the Mount Pasauran Observation Post, while the amount of volcanic material released during the eruption reached 13 million cubic meters consisting of lava and loose material in a basaltis andesit composition.
