Police release theft case at home of Jeremy Thomas, father of Valerie Thomas (ANTARA)

JAKARTA - The police have arrested a husband and wife household assistant who committed theft at the house of actor Jeremy Thomas, father of Valerie Theresa Thomas in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta.

Kapolsek Cilandak AKP Iskandarsyah said the husband and wife committed theft by becoming a household member.

"The victim of theft from the owner of these items is actor Jeremy Thomas," said AKP Iskandarsyah as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 29.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation of the Cilandak Metro Police, AKP I Komang Agus DW explained that the arrests of the two perpetrators began with Jeremy Thomas 'report on December 3, 2020. Jeremy, Valerie Thomas' father, reported losing a number of items after the pair of household members fled from their house.

These items include a Gucci-branded bag for Rp. 80 million, Adidas brand shoes, cellphones and jackets belonging to Jeremy Thomas' son, Axel.

"The perpetrators were two people, MAB, a 26 year old man and his wife MLT, 23 years old," said AKP Komang.

The two perpetrators were arrested separately on 17 December. MAB was arrested at his home in the Tegal region, Central Java. Meanwhile, his wife MLT was arrested at his rented house in the Pesanggrahan area, South Jakarta.

Komang said that the two perpetrators worked as household members at Jeremy Thomas' house for about three months. The two of them signed up through the ART distribution agency known to Jeremy Thomas.

"The perpetrator's mode, applying for work as household members, they work for about three weeks," said Komang.

The theft was carried out on November 26, 2020, the perpetrators shared roles. In the modus operandi, before carrying out the action, the perpetrator saw the situation of the victim, namely Jeremy Thomas' family, when the owner was careless, the two perpetrators took action.

"The role of MAB is to supervise the victim, once he is not in the room, order his wife MLT to take the goods, then collect them and store them in the garage," he said.

The actors were not taken all at once, they were collected one by one. After the stolen goods were collected, the two of them fled and left their employer's house.

Jeremy Thomas admitted that initially he did not know that his family's belongings had been stolen. It started when one of his household assistants, Enci, reported losing his cellphone.

"I know that Enci has worked with me since I was a child, it's been eight years. Suddenly crying to report losing her cellphone, then my daughter also reported missing her birthday gift bag," said Jeremy Thomas.

Knowing the many reports of lost items experienced by his family members, Jeremy then made a police report to the Cilandak Metro Police.

Jeremy also admitted that he did not know exactly what items had been stolen, other than what was reported by his family.

When the perpetrator was arrested along with the evidence that was successfully secured, Jeremy said he was shocked. It turned out that his wife's diamond-edged earrings and gold earrings were also stolen.

"I was also shocked, I just saw the belongings, there was my fitness bag, my child's business clothes, shoes, my daughter's birthday gift bag," said Jeremy.

The police estimated that the total loss from the items stolen by the two perpetrators was worth around Rp. 100 million.
