Volcanic Activity Still Fluctuating, The Mount Kerinci Climbing Line Via South Solok Closed

SUMBAR - The climbing route of Mount Kerinci via South Solok, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) is closed. The volcanic activity of this 3,805 masl is still fluctuating.

SPTN Kerinci Seblat Region IV also gave an appeal and socialization to people who are active at the foot of Mount Kerinci to remain vigilant and alert due to increased volcanic activity of the mountain.

"We are also coordinating with relevant agencies and sharing information related to mountain conditions," he said.

As long as the mountain in the TNKS area has erupted, it has not received reports from residents affected by the eruption.

Meanwhile, officer of the Kerinci Volcano Observation Post, Irwan Syafwan, said the tremors had not appeared in the past two days.

"The decline in activity is already there, but we must remain vigilant against the possibility that could occur," he said.

Previously, the TNKS Center on October 19, 2022, temporarily closed the Mount Kerinci climbing route from Kerinci, Jambi, and South Solok, West Sumatra, due to the increase in volcanic activity of the highest mountain in Sumatra.

The closure of the Mount Kerinci area is for tourist destinations, both from the entrance to the R10 Kersik Tuo Post, Kerinci and from the Bangun Rejo Camping Ground, South Solok.

The closure is in accordance with the Circular of the TNKS Center which states that based on visual monitoring from the R10 Kersik Tuo Post, Kerinci, Jambi, there was an increase in Mount Kerinci's volcanic activity on 18-19 October 2022.
