Government Will Not Make TGPF Related To The Shooting Of 6 FPI Warriors

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the government would not form a joint fact-finding team to investigate the deaths of 6 Islamic Defenders Front soldiers in the shooting incident on the Cikampe KM50 toll road because there was already a team from the National Human Rights Commission. Human (Komnas HAM) who moved to investigate the case.

Previously, public pressure was strong for the government to form TGPF. One of them emerged from Gerindra Party politician Fadli Zon who asked the government to create TGPF to investigate the deaths of the six people. He said the President should form a TGPF whose members come from various elements such as the National Human Rights Commission, human rights activists, representatives of ulama, and other parties. This TGPF needs to be formed to prevent the escalation of public anger against law enforcement.

However, the desire of a number of parties for the government to form TGPF is far more than wild. This is because the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD assessed that the government would not form this team even though he promised to thoroughly investigate the incident.

"The deaths of the six laskar we will solve. If there is a human rights violation from the police we will solve it but the government will not make a TGPF about it. Because of what? Because according to law, such human rights violations are according to Law Number 26 on Komnas HAM," he said. Mahfud was quoted as saying on YouTube, Kahmi Official Expert Council, Monday, December 28.

The government, he continued, provided room for Komnas HAM to conduct an investigation into the shooting case and emphasized that it would not intervene.

"We will not influence, we will not intervene so that you remain independent and later it will be announced that the government will follow what your results (Komnas HAM, ed) are. We will follow up later," he said.

To what extent has the Komnas HAM Investigation and Investigation Team worked?

After the shooting incident occurred on December 7, Komnas HAM formed an Investigation and Investigation Team to investigate the case. This team has investigated dozens of police officers who are suspected of knowing what happened in the early hours of the morning.

The dozens of policemen who were questioned consisted of various teams such as the forensic team, autopsy, and various other members of the police including the Head of the Metro Jaya Police, Inspector General Fadil Imran.

"A lot. (Police, ed) more than 30 people," Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsari told reporters at his office, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Apart from conducting investigations on the police, a number of other parties were also questioned, namely the FPI, PT Jasa Marga as the toll road manager, to elements of the community who were suspected of having knowledge of the shooting incident. In the future, these witnesses may be re-examined to examine the findings of evidence in the field.

Furthermore, this team will also ask for information from experts including ballistics experts who will examine a number of findings of Komnas HAM evidence, such as the findings of projectiles and bullet casings.

Regarding the evidence found by the Investigation and Investigation Team of Komnas HAM, Beka also explained it. The first were seven objects suspected of being projectiles and four shell casings. However, of the seven projectiles only six were believed by the team while one was only found in small pieces.

Not only that, there were a number of other objects such as used sign lights and other car parts, CCTV footage from PT Jasa Marga taken before and after the incident on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to earphones.

However, the findings of these earphones still need further investigation because in the search for this evidence, Komnas HAM took the items found around KM 50 or the scene of the incident. So that in the future it still needs to be confirmed and rechecked regarding the discovery of these items.

A number of hoaxes emerged in the middle of the investigation process

In an effort to investigate this case, Komnas HAM also admitted that there were many attacks on fake news or hoaxes on social media. So, reflecting on this incident, Komnas HAM Commissioner Amiruddin Al Rahab asked the public to be careful of the hoaxes circulating because there were parties trying to confuse the investigation process of this shooting case with other cases.

"We hope to be careful with this hoax," he said in his office, Monday, December 28.

A number of hoax findings include circulating screenshots narrating that Komnas HAM said the shooting of emam Laskar FPI did not violate human rights. In fact, all Komnas HAM commissioners have never stated that the shooting of the six laskar was not a human rights violation.

The next hoax that Komnas HAM found was about the existence of a torture house. Regarding this hoax, Komnas HAM Commissioner who is also the Head of the Komnas HAM Investigation and Investigation Team Choirul Anam said the false information was confirmed not from his party because his team never found the house.

"I make sure that Komnas HAM never finds a house where the torture was taken, we are still in the process of detailing the chronology of the narrative of the incident," he said.

"So if there is (information, red) a house where such torture is, I make sure it's not true," he concluded.
