Garuda Indonesia Beware Of Foreigners Who Have The Potential To Carry The COVID-19 Virus From Their Countries

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA) has stated that it will continue to monitor the development of the countries that are the destinations for the national airline's flights regarding the escalation of the spread of the COVID-19 case.

"For international affairs, we certainly have to be vigilant to observe developments in each country which is currently the destination of Garuda's flights," said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfaniaputra quoted from Antara, Tuesday, December 29.

Although he admitted that he would review new frequencies and routes next year, he did not explain which routes were likely to be deleted or changed.

As for domestic flights, Irfan said that his party will continue to coordinate with all relevant stakeholders such as the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Health, the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 and the Ministry of BUMN.

He also ensured that airlines or flights using Garuda Indonesia did not increase the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19.

"We also always participate and will always obey the agreements made jointly in relation to aviation," he said.

Irfan confirmed that he fully supports the government's efforts to enforce the in-flight health protocol. Therefore, Garuda Indonesia has a positive attitude regarding changes to the travel documents needed to be able to travel in air because the safety and health of passengers is a top priority.

He said changes in travel document requirements were made by the government to reduce the increase in COVID-19 cases, especially during the year-end holidays.

"We fully support, we also inform passengers, we give understanding and understanding, we ask passengers to obey not only for them but also for all of us. Please do not see this as a rule (travel document requirements) that hampers travel but to make sure. all in the best of health protocols, "he said.
