JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the search for the Regent of Central Mamberamo Ricky Ham Pagawak was more interesting than former candidate Harun Masiku. The reason is that he was caught in multiple articles, including the alleged money laundering.

"In fact, it is bigger, for example Ricky Ham Pagawak. Well, the value is quite large, even then, now he has been named a TPPU suspect (money laundering crime)," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, January 16.

Even so, Ali said Harun Masiku would still be sought. They ensured that all the fugitives were brought to justice to account for their actions.

"This means that we are serious about handling the case and continue to solve it," said Ali.

The KPK also ensures that it will take advantage of its connection to find fugitives. Especially, for those who fled abroad.

"What is certain is that the KPK is not alone when conducting searches, we coordinate with the immigration authorities, with the Criminal Investigation Unit, with the authority of other countries we continue to carry out," said Ali.

Previously, the anti-corruption commission said there were five fugitives who were still being sought. Apart from Harun Masiku, they are Izil Azhar who has been on the run since 2018; Kirana Kotama who has been on the run since 2017; Paulus Tanos who is a suspect in the alleged corruption in the procurement of e-KTP; and Central Mamberamo Regent Ricky Ham Pagawak who is a suspect in alleged bribery and gratification.

Meanwhile, regarding the fugitive from the KPK, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the process was not easy. Especially if they run abroad.

There are rules that must be obeyed before arresting someone who runs abroad. Even so, the KPK is believed to have known the whereabouts of a number of fugitives, including Harun Masiku.

"We are processing slowly. Regarding Mamberamo and Harun Masiku, for example, where have they been detected, we already know the name has been changed," Mahfud told reporters at his office, Wednesday, January 11.

In addition, the government is trying to open communication with a country suspected of being the place for fugitives from the KPK. "But it's not as easy as turning your hand, so be careful but we will continue to handle it," said Mahfud.
