"If you ask me what actually was the consideration for me to take the film Istimewa, it's actually simple. The first thing I felt was that there was something different in my portfolio," said Ajil Ditto in South Jakarta, Thursday, July 23.
Ajil admitted that he initially had no expectations when joining this project.
"At first, it was really zero expectation, I didn't know what the others were like. But the first day I met when I was reading, on that day I was sure that this time I wouldn't make the wrong choice," he said.
Working with children with disabilities turns out to drain Ajil's emotions more than he imagined.
"This time it works really with the heart. It turns out that the difficulty is not in them, but in the cave that has to hold emotions, often crying," said Ajil.
He also told how he had to look strong in front of the camera as a protector.
"I have to be as strong as possible in front of the camera. Which is actually very difficult. Several times after being strong after the action word, when the cut was right, I ran away hugging my father (Abdullah Mansuri) crying," he recalled.
Apart from acting experience, Ajil Ditto found personal happiness during filming. He felt he had regained the figure of a father who had long been lost.
"I met my father, who called me Dad too. Thank God I finally feel like I have a new father again," said Ajil.
The presence of Ruben Adrian fills the void in Ajil's heart that has been left by his biological father for the past dozen years.
"Because my father is gone, he has been gone since 2011. Sometimes I might crave more affection from a father, yes I get it from Ayah Mans," he added.
The closeness made Ajil willing to spend time on the set even though there was no shooting schedule.
"It makes me want to come to the event location again without doing anything. I really try to bond and blend with special friends," he said.
