JAKARTA - Iqlima Ayu, wife of Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi or Soni Eranata visited the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The wife filed for a suspension of detention for her husband who was detained by the police because of the alleged case of hate speech or insulting Habib Lutfi bin Ali bin Yahya.

Iqlima Ayu also apologized to Habib Lutfi for his husband's mistake. He hopes that Maaher can be released after his party guarantees himself as an effort to postpone detention of investigators from Bareskrim Polri.

"I, as the wife of Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi, beg to open a door of apology as large as Habib Lutfi and the NU family to forgive my husband. His human name is a mistake. So I beg my husband to be released immediately," said Iqlima Ayu in Bareskrim, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 28.

Efforts to apply for a suspension of detention were also carried out by nine kiai, namely Zaenal Arifin, Kiai Barkah, Siroj Ronggolawe, Abd Mudjib, Kiai Saifudin Aman, Marzuqi, Gus Ismail, Muhammad Rofi'i Mukhlis and Gus Mustain.

"Regarding the suspension of detention that we made, we fully submit it to the Chief of Police, General Idham Azis. So we as Indonesian citizens will not intervene, we will leave everything to the legal process. We only submit to Allah, hopefully it will be granted. Because Ustaz Maaher This has two small children, "said the Head of the Barisan Ksatria Nusantara, Muhammad Rofi'i Mukhlis.

Rofi'i said the reason for filing the suspension of detention was because there was a confession from Maaher who regretted his actions and promised not to repeat his actions again.

"I once interviewed Ustaz Maaher directly, all by the will of Allah. There he promised not to repeat his actions again," he said.

Earlier, in early December, investigators from the National Criminal Investigation Directorate for Cybercrime arrested Ustadz Maaher At-Thuwailibi alias Soni Eranata regarding the upload of hate speech on the Twitter social media account @ustadzmaaher_.

The suspect was arrested to follow up on the police report number LP / B / 0677 / XI / 2020 / Bareskrim dated November 27, 2020.

In his case, the suspect Soni Eranata is suspected of having committed a criminal act of disseminating information aimed at creating hatred or enmity for individuals and / or certain community groups based on ethnicity, religion, race and intergroup (SARA) as referred to in Article 45 paragraph (2) Jo Article 28 paragraph (2) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions.
