JAKARTA - The Indonesian government and the Chinese government are exploring cooperation in the field of translating classical literature from the two countries.
"Cooperation in the field of translation can increase understanding and respect for culture between countries as well as build a learning and exchange platform regarding the best works of Asian civilization," said Yaya Sutarya, the Education and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, reported by Antara, Monday, December 28.
According to him, the Chinese government has submitted a cooperation plan to the Indonesian government in the China-Indonesia Classics Translation Project scheme to translate and publish classical works in the two countries.
In the cooperation, it was stated that 50 to 100 books were translated according to the agreement of the two parties.
"Currently, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia is reviewing the cooperation text," said Yaya.
The exploration was also conveyed at the South and Southeast Asia Translation Development Forum in Kunming, Yunnan Province, Thursday, December 24.
