Next Monday, The National Police Will Spill The File Of PT Afi Farma's Acute Kidney Case To The Prosecutor

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police will hand over files on cases of acute kidney failure that killed hundreds of children with suspects from the corporation PT Afi Farma Pharmaceutical Industry (AF).

Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Kombes Pol. Nurul Azizah said investigators had coordinated with the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Attorney General's Office to complete the case files so that they could immediately be transferred to stage one on Monday, January 16 next week.

"The results of the coordination that the case file for the corporate suspect, namely PT AF, has been completed and on Monday (January 16) it will be sent to the prosecutor," said Nurul in Jakarta, Friday, January 13.

In this case, investigators named two companies as suspects, namely the factory manufacturer PT Afi Farma and the drug supplier company CV Samudera Chemical.

Based on Antara's report, the two companies were named suspects in the alleged case of sirop drugs contaminated with dangerous chemicals, EG and DEG, which are strongly suspected of being the cause of acute kidney failure in Indonesia.

EG/DEG is a compound whose structure is simple, but has a high level of toxicity. This has been regulated in the "European Food Safety Agency" (EFSA) and "Food and Drug Administration" (FDA) and has been included in the "toxic substances" list so that it is prohibited to use it in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, PG is allowed to use it as a solvent substance and carriers of substances that are unstable or unable to dissolve in water.

The threshold for EG/DEG contamination should be 0.1 percent. But nine drum samples were detected with levels up to 52 percent and some up to 99 percent. This means that almost 100 percent is the content of EG/DEG.

In addition, investigators conducted an examination of three companies as distributors of raw materials, not sellers of finished drugs or wholesalers, not pharmaceuticals with the initials PT TBK, PT FJP, and PT APG.

Investigators have named two people as suspects, namely the President Director and Director of CV Samudera Chemical with the initials E and AR. Both have been named fugitives on the wanted list (DPO) since November 25, 2022.
