JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR RI has warned the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia to ensure that its members, both in the ranks of the central KPU and in the Regional KPU, are free from the practice of bribery in corruption cases. This was said by Member of Commission II of the DPR, Mardani Ali Sera, in response to the alleged flow of corruption funds from the Bangkalan regent to members of the Bangkalan KPU regarding the electability survey of up to IDR 5.3 billion. "All KPUs in all ranks must be clean," said Mardani when contacted, Friday, January 13. The PKS legislator reminded the Indonesian KPU and the Regency and Provincial KPU to maintain their integrity as a neutral election organizer. "We must maintain integrity, we must protect ourselves from the influence of bribery and the like," said Mardani. Previously, the KPK suspected that there was a flow of money from the inactive Bangkalan Regent Abdul Latif Amin Imron to members of the Bangkalan Regency General Election Commission (KPU). This allegation was investigated by members of the Bangkalan Bangkalan KPU, Sairil Munir, who were presented as witnesses. "The witness was present and investigated, among other things, related to the alleged flow of money from the suspect RALAI to certain parties at the Bangkalan Regency KPU to make an electability survey for the suspect in question," said the Head of the KPK News Section to reporters, Friday, January 13. To investigate this case, the KPK also examined other witnesses. They were questioned regarding the receipt of bribes and where they flowed. The witnesses examined were the Head of Protocol and Communications for the Head of Kab. Bangkalan Erwin Yoesoef; former Acting Secretary of Bangkalan Ishak Sudibyo alias Yoyok; and the Head of the Sub-Division of Career and Promotion Development; BKPSDA Bangkalan Nauval Farisy; and an entrepreneur named Zaenab Zuraidah. "His knowledge was explored, among others, related to the alleged receipt of money by the suspect RALAI from the Bangkalan Regional Government ASN who took part in the selection of positions. In addition, there was also a flow of money from the provision of private parties who received work projects at the Bangkalan Regency Government," said Ali. As for this case, Abdul Latif is suspected of accepting bribes related to the auction of positions and project arrangements at the Bangkalan Regency Government. The money he got was then allocated to the interests of the electability survey of up to IDR 5.3 billion. Next, the KPK also appointed the Head of the Bangkalan Food Security Office, Achmad Mustaqim; Head of the Bangkalan Regency Community and Village Empowerment Office Hosin Jamili; and the Head of the Lerindustrian and Manpower Office of Bangkalan Regency Salman Hidayat as suspects.
