OKU - The Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra, has confirmed that as many as 151 hajj candidates from the area will depart for the Holy Land of Mecca in 2023. "A total of 151 prospective pilgrims are pilgrims who canceled their departure in 2022, most of which are due to age constraints," said Head of the Hajj and Umrah Section of the OKU Regency Ministry of Religion, Abdul Muis in Baturaja, Antara, Wednesday, January 11. The government's agreement to get a hajj quota of 221,000 people has a good impact on the long hajj queues in various regions in Indonesia, including in OKU Regency. The Ministry of Religion of OKU Regency also welcomed the decision to lift the age limit for pilgrims in the Holy Land of Mecca in 2023. According to him, the decision became a breath of fresh air for 151 prospective Hajj pilgrims from OKU Regency, some of whom were 60 and over. "Of the 151 prospective pilgrims from OKU, 51 of them are elderly," he said. With this good news, dozens of prospective pilgrims aged Usur were warmly welcomed to be able to carry out the pilgrimage to the Holy Land this year. "Administratively 151 Hajj candidates, including the elderly, are 100 percent ready to be dispatched to Mecca during this year's Hajj season," he said. However, Muis has not been able to confirm regarding the hajj quota for OKU Regency this year because he is still waiting for technical instructions from the central government. "What is certain is that 151 people are born and inner and ready to depart. Hopefully, later there will be additional quota for OKU Regency," he said. Muis also again reminded all prospective hajj pilgrims to maintain health ahead of departure so that the hajj trip runs safely and smoothly. "For those who have not been vaccinated until the third dose, they immediately come to the nearest vaccination service to be injected with the vaccine because it is still the main requirement for this year's Hajj trip," he said.
