COVID-19 Update as of January 5: 535 New Cases, Most in DKI Jakarta Followed by West Java

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 36,460 specimens were examined with the result that there were 535 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,722,227 people and active cases have decreased by 154 to 8,739 cases", he was quoted as saying from data from the COVID-19 Task Force, Thursday, January 5.

Today's recovered cases increased by 681 people, bringing a total of 6,552,823 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 8 cases and a total of 160,665 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 183 cases and a total of 1,536,915 cases. Followed by West Java with 120 new cases with a total of 1,233,059 cases. Banten had 56 new cases and a total of 365,214 cases. East Java has 56 new cases and a total of 636,928 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 199 recovered cases. Followed by Central Java with an additional 58 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 55 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 38 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 114,087,188.

"The positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 2.68 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases is recorded at 1,986 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had COVID-19 cases.

To date, 204,057,916 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 174,818,471 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 68,672,995 and the fourth dose was 1,183,061. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
