JAKARTA - The level of satisfaction with the performance of the President (presidential approval rating) Joko Widodo turned out to be correlated with the electability of prospective presidential candidates in 2024, especially for the Ganjar Pranowo - Erick Thohir pair who excel in the 4 models of the 2024 presidential election simulation made by the Indonesian Political Indicators (IPI) survey institute.
This was conveyed by IPI Director Burhanuddin Muhtadi when releasing the results of a virtual survey in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 4.
The institution's findings, said Burhanuddin, were 71.3 percent of Indonesians satisfied with the performance of the Jokowi government. Meanwhile, 27.1 percent were dissatisfied. The remaining 1.6 percent did not know / did not answer.
"Those who are satisfied because (Jokowi) provide assistance to the small people, build road infrastructure, and have good performance. Meanwhile, those who are dissatisfied, most because they think the prices of basic necessities are increasing and the assistance is not evenly distributed," said Burhanuddin.
This survey was conducted in the period 1-6 December 2022 with a total of 1,220 randomly selected respondents using the multistage random sampling method.
The respondents were interviewed face-to-face. The fault tolerance (margin of error) for this survey is around +/- 2.92 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.
Interestingly, said Burhanuddin, the level of satisfaction with President Jokowi's performance has a positive correlation with Ganjar Pranowo.
In the survey, IPI conducted 4 simulation models of candidate pairs that were in the top 5 for the positions of presidential and vice presidential candidates. As a result, the Ganjar - Erick Thohir pair occupies the top position.
The first model, the Ganjar - Erick pair was chosen by 38.6 percent of respondents. Followed by Anies-AHY (30.4 percent), and Prabowo Puan as much as 19.8 percent. The rest who did not know / did not answer were 11.2 percent.
In the second model, Ganjar-Erick won 38.0 percent of the vote, Anies-AHY 30.8 percent and Prabowo-Bahlil 20.0 percent. About 11.1 percent did not know/did not answer.
In the third model, Ganjar-Erick 39.7 percent, Anies-Khofifah 27.4 percent, Prabowo-Bahlil 20.4 percent and 12.6 percent did not answer.
In the fourth model, Ganjar-Erick gains 37.4 percent, Anies-AHY 29.6 percent, Prabowo-Khofifah 22.2 percent, and the remaining 10.8 percent do not know/do not answer.
"Ganjar's electability rose in December, as well as when paired with Erick Thohir. Anies' electability fell in December, the Anies-AHY pair also dropped," said Burhanuddin.
"Basis dukungan terhadap Ganjar-Erick berasal dari publik yang puas terhadap kinerja pemerintah saat ini, terutama dari basis PDI Perjuangan," tambahnya.
On a number of occasions, President Jokowi is known to often give special assignments to Ganjar-Erick, including to bring in investors in the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone, Central Java. They were also asked to assist the community in the use of social forestry land.
Most recently, President Jokowi himself mentioned SOE Minister Erick Thohir as his flagship minister. This was conveyed by Jokowi during his visit to Riau, Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
At that time, President Jokowi, who was reviewing trading activities in Pasar Bawah, Pekanbaru City, specifically summoned SOE Minister Erick Thohir to approach.
"Are you familiar with my flagship minister, have you not?" Jokowi asked the crowd when Erick approached.
The residents cheered boisterously while shouting the name Erick Thohir. Receiving such a welcome, Erick with a smile approached and greeted several Riau residents.
