Jakarta Potential Flood Rob, DPRD Asks The Provincial Government For Pump Inspection: Ever An Unfunctioned Incident

JAKARTA - Jakarta is faced with the potential for tidal flooding in the next week. DKI Jakarta DPRD member Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo asked the DKI Provincial Government to conduct a pump inspection and ensure that the flood control tool is functioning.

According to Anggara, the DKI Provincial Government must prepare to face this prediction by ensuring that the inundation can dry as soon as possible and minimize the impact on the community with the necessary assistance.

"There has been an incident where the pump doesn't work when the water arrives. It is better to carry out a thorough inspection of the readiness of the pump immediately to ensure its readiness," Anggara told reporters, Wednesday, January 4.

Meanwhile, in mitigating the tidal flood disaster, Anggara asked the DKI Provincial Government to carefully prepare evacuation measures for basic needs and refugee camps to be available at flood-prone points.

At least food and sanitation needs can be quickly received by flood-affected communities. Evacuation sites must also be friendly to children and the elderly," said Anggara.

For information, the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) informed the potential for flooding on the north coast of DKI Jakarta from January 3 to January 10, 2023.

The potential for tidal flooding this time is based on the full moon phenomenon on January 6, 2023, which has the potential to increase the maximum sea level.

"Based on water level data monitoring and tidal predictions, coastal flooding (rob) has the potential to occur in several coastal areas of Indonesia, including the north coast of DKI Jakarta," wrote the bpbddkijakarta Instagram account.

Responding to this, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono hopes that this coastal flood will not occur.

"Hopefully there won't be a tidal wave. Pray for what's fine," said Heru when met at the Bantargebang TPST, Bekasi, West Java, Monday, January 2.

Even though the tidal flood will occur later, Heru emphasized that the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government will immediately activate the pump to drain water when the flood stagnates.

"It was like yesterday, there was also a number of centimeters of tidal waves. Immediately, the Water Resources Service took action to revive pumps to pump into the sea," said Heru.
