JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Police are preparing Operation Safe Nusa II, namely humanitarian operations related to the contingency of handling natural disasters that occurred in the country in early 2023.
Assistant Chief of Police for Operations (Asops) Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendy said preparations for Operation Safe Nusa II were carried out after the 2022 candle operation was completed.
"Today (Monday-ed) is the last day of the 2022 Candle Operation. Operational activities will be prepared for Safe Nusa II related to natural disasters that are still happening in several areas," said Agung in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, January 2.
The 2022 Candle Operation will be held from 23 December 2022 to 2 January 2023. After being closed, security activities will be continued with Enhanced Police Activities (KRYD) from 3 to 9 January 2023.
"We carried out KRYD and prepared Operation Safe Nusa II," said the former Riau Police Chief.
In this operation, Polri personnel who are members of the Consultative Task Force are focused on preventing and responding to emergency situations, such as natural disasters (floods, landslides, and strong winds), as well as transportation accidents.
The National Police has deployed personnel and rescue and infrastructure (SAR) owned from Operation Safe Nusa II, assisting disaster management, such as evacuating victims, identifying victims, distributing disaster emergency response assistance, healing trauma, and helping the community fix their houses affected by disasters.
Meanwhile, regarding the results of the analysis and evaluation (anev) carried out by the National Police regarding the stability of security and public order at the turn of the year which was conducive, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo said that although the security and security situation was running smoothly, several areas experienced natural disasters at the time of the turn of the year and on the first day of 2023.
"The results of anev until this morning the entire territory of Indonesia, the security and social security situation, are running smoothly during New Year's Eve celebrations and celebrations on Sunday," he said.
