Central Java With Bad Weather Extensions, Ganjar Continues To Coordinate With BNPB And BMKG

Central Java still has the potential to experience moderate to heavy rain in a number of areas. BMKG appealed to the public to remain aware of strong winds.

This statement was made by the Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati after the Central Java Provincial Disaster Coordination Meeting at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Monday, January 2.

"It is possible that it could be heavy in several districts, including quite extensive, especially in the central region," said Dwikorita.

Dwikorita appealed to be aware of potential landslides in mountainous areas. In addition, strong winds also need to be watched out for. BMKG predicts that wind speed in the next few days will reach the 35 knots about 60 km/hour.

The former UGM Chancellor said that high waves are also predicted to occur on the South coast of Central Java reaching 3-4 meters. Including in the Karimunjawa Islands and will occur for the next 2-3 days.

Dwikorita also said that the tidal flood would be quite long, starting today until then the next tidal flood would be a maximum of January 6-15.

"For fishermen, because currently the waves are still high and the winds are strong, the Governor has said that it should be temporary to give in not to go to sea because it is for safety," he said.

Governor Ganjar Pranowo said that until today the level of countermeasures is good. Moreover, the handling starts from the upstream with weather modification technology.

"Alhamdulillah, yesterday I succeeded in reporting it to the heads of BNPB and BMKG, thank God, thank you very much for being helped because it was a deal," said Ganjar.

Ganjar also appealed to residents to remain alert to the weather. Information from the BMKG must be read because strong winds are still potential and dangerous. Including watch out for tidal waves because of the full moon.

"Then calculate this calculation that makes you alert, so I ask for embankment patrols. Because there is a high wind (fast, red), I ask for trees that are tall to be trimmed, we ask that everyone be aware, telephone numbers are divided," said Ganjar.

The head of BNPB Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto who attended and participated in the meeting asked all stakeholders to actively convey to the public.

"So that people also know that the central and regional governments do not remain silent and continue to work and we are committed that the safety of the people is a top priority," he said.

On that occasion, BNPB also provided operational budget assistance. Each district/city is IDR 250 million plus logistics in the form of sugar noodle rice foods and all kinds of ready-to-use, each worth IDR 100 million.

"Provincial control is also given a budget of IDR 1 billion. Then the results of the meeting chaired by the Governor of Central Java directly during this short-term emergency period in addition to the central government's operational and logistics budget through BNPB will also help with other needs," he said.
