JAKARTA - The Jambi Regional Police has raided a house that was used as a warehouse for more than 129 thousand lobster or fry.

The raids were carried out because fries worth Rp. 13 billion were to be smuggled abroad through the eastern and western coastal waters.

"The number of fry in this shelter is 129,466, consisting of two types of fries that are accommodated in this house, namely pearl and sand," said Head of Jambi Regional Police, Inspector General Albertus Rachamad Wibowo in Jambi, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, December 23.

The raid on the house which was used as a warehouse for lobster seed storage is in the local government complex RT 11, Telanaipura District, Jambi City.

The location of the house is very strategic because it is quiet and used as a storage place for fry which will then be smuggled out of the country.

As well as finding fries ready to be distributed, the police also found several modified storage tanks.

Apart from that, the police also secured four suspects at the location who were the warehouse head, driver and workers. The police also secured two units of vehicles suspected of being land transportation for smuggling fries to the sea port.

"So when we look inside the house, the tools are complete, starting from the shelter, then the location inside is also cold, because the temperature for storing the fry must be cold," said Albertus Rachmad Wibowo.

He also revealed that his party also found several tubs for storage of fry and plastics containing fry that were ready to be smuggled.

Of the total 129 thousand, there are more than 127,000 for pearls and 2,466 for sand. It is planned that the fries that will be smuggled will be smuggled through several locations in the rat-lane waters in Jambi, such as Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur districts.

According to the perpetrators, there are several countries that are suspected of being the destination for export of the fry, such as Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. However, before they were able to be smuggled in, the police first thwarted them by storming the warehouse.

"Jambi is only a stopover, there are several countries for export and the success of this raid should be appreciated because this is a form of saving marine ecosystems in Indonesia," Inspector General of Police Albertus Rachmad Wbowo.

Moreover, the export of these fry also does not have permits, meaning this is illegal. In recent weeks it has been noted that the police have succeeded in thwarting attempts to smuggle fries abroad.

Starting from the smuggling of fry that was thwarted by the Tanjabtim Police, then the Tanjabbar Police and today from the Directorate of Air and Water Police (Ditpolairud) of the Jambi Regional Police.

Later, more than 129 thousand fry that are secured by the police will coordinate with the Jambi BKIPM for the release of the fry to marine habitats in West Sumatra.

The police will also try to carry out further investigations into the fries case by examining four suspects who are known to be Jambi residents.

"We will continue to follow up this case. The suspects will also be investigated further and what is clear is that because the seedlings' storage area does not have a permit, this is certainly illegal," said the Jambi Police Chief.
