Reasons For The Police To Submit PT Asabri's Alleged Corruption Case To The AGO

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri has decided to delegate the handling of PT Asabri's alleged corruption case to the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung). The reason is that a number of assets that have been confiscated and potential suspects have similarities with the PT Asuransi Jiwasraya case.

"There were assets that were confiscated, the sources of which came from Asabri and Jiwasraya funds because the perpetrators were almost the same," said Head of Criminal Investigation of Polri, Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to VOI, Tuesday, December 22.

To facilitate tracking and handling, said Listyo, the cases of alleged corruption were put together. This is because the handling of the PT Asuransi Jiwasraya case is still ongoing at the AGO.

"For tracing and recovering state losses, it is better to put it together at the AGO," he said.

Previously reported, the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, ST Burhanuddin said there was an indication of similarity between the alleged corruption case of PT Asabri (Persero) and PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero). The similarity referred to is on the side of the alleged corruption perpetrator.

"So the suspicion of the potential suspect is almost the same between Jiwasraya and Asabri," Burhanuddin told reporters, Tuesday, December 22.

With this similarity, said Burhanuddin, the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) would take part in handling the Asabri corruption case. So, in case handling, you can reflect on the Jiwasraya case.

"So why are we being asked to handle it because there are similarities and of course we can already map out the problem," he said.

However, Burhannudin was reluctant to reveal further about the suspect in the Asabri corruption case. He only said that the two potential suspects in the Asabri case were indicated to be the same as the Jiwasraya case.

"I didn't mention the first name. Meanwhile, there were two of the same there. But it will be different, it will definitely develop. We will study first," he said.
