Trenggono Becomes Minister Of Marine And Fisheries: I Will Do An Evaluation So That It Is Beneficial For The Nation

JAKARTA - After being appointed as Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said he would study and evaluate the ministry he led. The goal is that the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries can take advantage of the potential that exists in Indonesian waters.

"I will study and dig, evaluate to be able to (find out, red) what we have to do in order to be of benefit to the nation," Trenggono said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Tuesday, December 22.

He said all the potential in the country's waters would be utilized properly without neglecting environmental problems.

Trenggono admitted that he was shocked when he was asked to improve the performance of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. But he admits that he is still ready to carry out his new mandate in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

In addition, he promised to learn quickly to deal with problems in the ministerial sector he led so that he could produce the best solutions in the future.

"I am not a person who is good at rhetoric, I just want to immediately work with all stakeholders for the advancement of the maritime sector. Please pray from the community so that we will run smoothly and carry out our duties" he said.

As previously reported, in addition to announcing the name of Tri Rismaharini as Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) and Sandiaga Uno as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Jokowi also announced another name, namely Sakti Wahyu Trenggono as Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries replacing Edhy Prabowo who was caught in a corruption case.

Trenggono, who is a former treasurer of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin National Campaign Team in the 2019 Presidential Election, previously served as Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) accompanying Prabowo Subianto.

"Mr. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, he now holds the position of Deputy Minister of Defense and we give him the responsibility to become Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries," said Jokowi.

After being announced by President Jokowi, Trenggono also entered the venue for the announcement to take place. He is seen wearing a white shirt wrapped with a blue jacket and wearing black pants.

Trenggono at a glance, he is a businessman in the field of infrastructure provider of telecommunications towers in Indonesia, with ownership of 14,000 towers.
