Anies Will Deliver Message At Virtual Christmas Celebration In Pandemic Period

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to hold Christmas celebrations for Christians in Jakarta virtually this year. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will also attend the virtual Christmas celebration.

Later, there will be a Christmas event containing messages from Anies, cardinals and pastors on 23 December. In addition, there will be a virtual carol appearance.

"Virtual Christmast in Jakarta in the form of Christmas messages and the appearance of carol looking for 7 points will be broadcast on December 23 on the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's Youtube Channel," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Mental and Spiritual Education Bureau, Muhammad Zein in his statement, Tuesday, December 22.

Apart from the Christmas celebration on YouTube, the DKI Provincial Government will broadcast a video with the theme "Teaser Christmast in Jakarta" on a number of videotrons belonging to the DKI Provincial Government and the private sector from December 20 to 23.

Like the previous year, DKI will also install a large Christmas tree with 3-dimensional lights at Thamrin 10, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta.

"Christmast tree at Thamrin 10 from December 23 to January 1, 2021," said Zein.

Zein continued, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is no longer holding christmast carol in the HI Roundabout area, considering that the COVID-19 pandemic is still hitting the capital.

In a pandemic like this, Zein said, every community activity must be accompanied by a health protocol to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"In carrying out a series of Christmas celebrations this year, we collaborate with communities and residents. Although it is not as festive as last year and conducted online, we hope that this celebration will still bring joy to all of us. The message that we always emphasize is that Jakarta belongs to all. As before, we support religious events, which indicate that Jakarta is a city with social justice, "he explained.
