During The Pandemic, The Police Took Action Against 34 Violations Of The Health Center, Including The Rizieq Shihab Crowd

JAKARTA - The National Police stated that they had taken action against 34 cases of suspected violation of the health protocol (prokes) during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. From the handling of these cases, the National Police named nearly a hundred suspects.

"Law enforcement on 34 cases of violating health protocols with 91 suspects," said National Police Chief General Idham Aziz in his statement, Tuesday, December 22.

Of the dozens of alleged prokes cases, one of them that stood out was the crowd at the wedding of Rizieq Shihab's daughter, Najwa Shihab in Petamburan, Central Jakarta, on November 14.

In this case, Polda Metro Jaya named 6 suspects. One of them is Rizieq Shihab who was charged with Article 160 of the Criminal Code regarding the investigation and Article 216 of the Criminal Code.

In addition, Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Rusdi Hartono, said that dozens of cases of violations of the prokes also occurred during the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) 2020.

"34 is also included in the crowds that occur especially during the Pilkada campaign activities," he said.

However, with the end of the pandemic period, the number of cases of prokes violations can still increase. This is because in implementing the regulations, the National Police will really enforce them.

"Of course, with the current situation, the police will continue to enforce the law on health protocols, so that the transmission of the spread of COVID-19 in our country can be properly controlled and public health can be well maintained," he said.
