Cabinet Reshuffle Announced Soon, President Jokowi Is Reported To Change 6 Ministers

JAKARTA - It is reported that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will reform the six ministers who currently sit in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. This news was conveyed by the Chairman of the DPP National Justice Party (PKB) Faisol Riza.

"I heard that there will be six positions that will be affected, but there could be more," Faisol told reporters, Monday, December 21.

In addition to reshuffling the ministerial seats, the Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI also said there would be changes in the deputy minister's post in the form of increasing numbers. It's just that Faisol did not explain who the ministers would be reshuffled.

However, based on the leaks he received, Jokowi will fill his cabinet with young people. "(Cabinet, red) will be filled by young people so that the cabinet will be more dynamic," he said.

Regarding the certainty of the reshuffle, it became clearer after the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono said that a new figure who would sit in the ministerial seat would be introduced to the public on Tuesday, December 22. However, the exact schedule awaits President Jokowi's time.

"Of course it will be introduced to the public by the president, whose time is to adjust to the president's time, either morning or afternoon," Heru told reporters.

Observers are sure the new minister is still from political parties

Currently there are two empty seats after the two ministers resigned. Both are Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo, who is a suspect in corruption in the export bribery of lobster seeds or fry. Then Social Minister Juliari Peter Batubara who resigned after becoming a suspect in the case of receiving the social assistance fee (bansos) COVID-19.

Regarding his successor, a political observer from the University of Al Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Ujang Komarudin, said that the two ministerial seats would not fall into the hands of professionals. But still from a political party.

"The opportunity for a minister to be professional remains. However, it is very small. The probability is very small. It is unlikely that the two ministers' posts are political parties," Ujang told VOI, Sunday, December 20.

The reason, said Ujang, was that Jokowi would protect the government coalition that had already been formed. So, those who will be appointed as ministers will come from PDIP and Gerindra.

The coalition is still maintained because Jokowi still needs political assistance from the two major parties. Especially for Gerindra which was successfully collaborated after fighting in the 2019 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

But if the prediction doesn't happen, Ujang said there are other possibilities Jokowi will do during the reshuffle. Later, candidates from the Gerindra party will be placed as ministers in other sectors. Thus, it does not change the 2 seat ministerial quota.

"The worst thing is that Gerindra ministers' quota at the KKP is also shifted to another ministry. However, it does not reduce the two ministers from Gerindra," he said.
