JABAR - The total number of victims who died as a result of the 5.6 magnitude earthquake (M) in Cianjur was 635 people as of Tuesday, December 20. This number was based on the addition of three bodies that had just been found.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman said the SAR team experienced weather problems because heavy rain fell every afternoon. However, the search for the last day of victims of the Cianjur earthquake who were buried by landslides was maximized.

"Until the last day, search efforts have been maximized even though the rain had fallen, it has not dampened the intention of the joint SAR team to carry out various search efforts," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday, December 20, as reported by Antara.

He hopes that the other five victims who were reported to have been buried by landslides due to the Cianjur earthquake will be found until the deadline for the search on Tuesday, December 20 evening.

For this reason, the five heavy equipment deployed continue to dig at a number of points suspected of being the location of the victim.

"We are trying to find five other victims today, because the emergency response ends at midnight Tuesday until the search for victims is stopped, but supervision and other efforts will still be carried out," he said.

Previously, heavy equipment was deployed to complete the search for eight victims buried by landslides at Sate Sinta-Cijedil and Jalan Mangunkerta, Cugenang District. The effort was carried out so that a maximum search was carried out until Tuesday, December 20.

Five trucks to get rid of landslide material and three heavy excavator types were deployed to the search location. To this day, three of the eight people who were still buried by landslides due to the Cianjur earthquake were found.

The search is still being carried out under the supervision of a joint SAR team consisting of the TNI or Polri, Basarnas, SAR Bandung, humanitarian volunteers from various organizations and related agencies for the procurement of heavy equipment.
