24 people were arrested in connection with the Astanaanyar Police Suicide Bombing, most of them from North Sumatra

JAKARTA - National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that as many as 24 people from various regions have been arrested in connection with the handling of the suicide bombing terror case at the Astanaanyar Police Station, Bandung, West Java.

"After the bomb incident that occurred in Astanaanyar, until now we have carried out security and development activities. We have secured six people from the West Java region, seven people from the Central Java region, and 11 people from the North Sumatra region", said Listyo Sigit, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday, December 19.

Listyo said the police continued to carry out security and development of the suicide bombing terror case that killed one police officer.

Regarding security guarding ahead of Christmas and the 2023 New Year, Listyo said that the National Police will continue to monitor it optimally. He has also ordered Densus 88 Anti-terror Police to always increase vigilance.

"In particular, the Special Detachment, to continue to increase awareness, also cooperates with existing mass organizations, then former convicts (convicts of terrorism) to provide outreach. Of course, we monitor all movements optimally", he said as quoted by Antara.

The police will carry out sterilization for security in places of worship.

"Then when entering certain churches or certain places of worship, we prepare security doors, and X-rays, so that this can also reduce existing risks, and of course, we will also deploy what we have. K-9 and so on", he said.

The National Police will also increase coordination with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and Bais TNI to ensure security during the 2023 Christmas and New Year celebrations.
