British Government Finds New COVID-19 Variant, WHO Intervenes

JAKARTA - The British government claims to have discovered a new variant of COVID-19. Following up on this, the World Health Organization (WHO) immediately coordinated closely with British officials.

"They (British officials) will continue to share information and the results of their ongoing analysis and research. We will provide the latest information to member countries & the public as long as we learn more about the characteristics of this virus variant and all its implications," WHO said. through a statement quoted by Antara from Reuter, Sunday, December 20.

The new findings of the corona virus identified in the United Kingdom were up to 70 percent more contagious. But it is not considered more lethal and the vaccine is sure to work, according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and scientists.
