It Takes 5,586 Voting Committees, Riau KPU Registration Limits Until December 27

PekanBARU - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Riau Province requires 5,586 voting committees (PPS) in 12 districts/cities to face simultaneous elections in 2024.

"With the number of villages/kelurahan in Riau as many as 1,862, it means that the needs of PPS are three people per village/kelurahan, so 5,586 PPS is needed," said Riau Provincial KPU member Nugroho Noto Susanto as reported by Antara from Pekanbaru, Sunday 18 December.

Officially, the Riau KPU will open registration for those interested in becoming PPS at the village level starting today until Tuesday 27 December.

This is the next stage of the 2024 General Election, after completing the selection for the acceptance of the District Election Committee (PPK) a few weeks ago.

He said PPS registration was done online. Registration for PPS for the 2024 General Election is done through a web-based information technology system called the KPU Member Information System and the Ad Hoc or SIAKBA Agency.

"Sama dengan seleksi penerimaan calon PPK, penerimaan calon PPS pendaftaran juga dilakukan secara online lewat web SIAKBA. Pendaftaran dapat dilakukan melalui situs https://siakba.kpu.go.id. Bagi yang berminat dan tidak terakomodir di PPK silahkan mendaftar di PPS tingkat kelurahan," jelas Nugroho.

He said that people who have difficulty being able to go directly to the nearest KPU office. "Those who have difficulty can consult an officer at the help desk if they find obstacles," he said.

Meanwhile, Pekanbaru KPU member Yelli Noviza said for Pekanbaru, the number of PPS would be placed in 83 urban villages in Pekanbaru.

The total need for PPS in Pekanbaru City is 498. Where 249 people will be sworn in. While the rest are prepared as candidates for interim replacement (PAW).

"So each kelurahan is prepared for 3 people plus 3 PAW candidates," said Yelli.
