BNPT: Terrorism Movement Aims to Seize Legitimate Power

JAKARTA - The National Agency for Combating Terrorism (BNPT) said that terrorist movements carried out by terror groups are not for peace missions but are trying to take or seize legitimate power.

"They are a political movement that wants to take power. A political movement that wants to be in power by manipulating, distorting and politicizing religion", said BNPT Prevention Director Brigadier General Ahmad Nurwakhid at the webinar "prevent terrorism" in Jakarta reported by ANTARA on Saturday, December 17.

In the end, the group wants to establish a religious state according to their version (terrorism group). This means that so far terrorist groups have used religion as a tool to achieve their main goal.

"In fact, their actions are very contrary to the noble values of any religion", he said.

In conclusion, terrorism which is inspired by radical understanding is true slander in religion. The group is an enemy of religion and the state. Because his actions hijack and are in the name of religion only for the sake of power.

"They are called enemies of the state because they violate agreements that have become the agreement of the nation and state", he said.

He explained that what is meant by violating the agreement is anti-Pancasila and anti-diversity which basically has become God's decree/will.

Nurwakhid said that radicalism is like a virus and can expose anyone without exception, including the police.

To prevent the spread of radical understanding, this can be done by spreading positive narratives, spreading divine values, and instilling the values of goodness and moderation in the nation and religion.

"Religious and national moderation is how we love Pancasila, diversity, NKRI including loving the 1945 Constitution", he added.
