Transport Many Excise Goods Without Documents, Shiploading SB Rahmat Jaya 12 Safed By Batam Customs

A number of used goods and various other types of illegal cargo that were not equipped with customs documents were secured in the waters of Tanjung Riau, Batam, Riau Islands.

Head of the Batam Customs Information and Guidance Division, M Rizki Baidillah, said the various types of goods transported by the SB Rahmat Jaya 12 ship. used bicycles in the Tanjung Riau waters on Wednesday (14 December), he said in Batam, Riau Islands, Thursday 15 December.

Rizki said the arrest began when the Batam Customs Marine Patrol Task Force received information that there was a means of transportation suspected of carrying goods without customs documents via a passenger ship from Batam to Tembilahan, Riau.

Then the Marine Patrol Task Force inspected the SB Rahmat Jaya 12 ship which was departing from Tanjung Riau Port to Domestik Sekupang Port.

"From the inspection, 87 cellphones were found that were hidden in the ship's luggage and the ship's air conditioner (AC) compartment," he said.

He explained that this smuggling was called the consumer method. In addition, 15 koli of used clothes and used bags and 11 used bicycles were also found. During the inspection process, the ship was also assisted by the K-9 Team with sniffer dogs.

"In the 2022 Pandawa Marine Patrol Operation, the crew involved in the Customs Task Force involved many Customs and Excise female employees referred to as the Customs and Excise Srikandi. Of course, this is a form of implementation of Gender Administrative (PUG) in the Customs and Excise environment," he also said.

For this incident, the perpetrator violated the Customs Act Number 17 of 2006, Government Regulation Number 41 of 2021, and Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 34 of 2021.

Furthermore, the ship was taken to the Customs Pier in Tanjung Uncang for further investigation.
