SOLO - The Solo City Government, Central Java held a Car Free Night (CFN) along Jalan Slamet Riyadi from Purwosari to the Gladag Solo Roundabout on Saturday, December 31 evening to welcome the turn from 2022 to the New Year 2023. "The Surakarta City Government in celebrating New Year's Eve, people are prohibited from sounding firecrackers," said Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo, Antara, Thursday, December 15. He said CFN on New Year's Eve was the first activity after two years of being empty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Car Free Night was held to celebrate the turn of New Year's Eve in Solo," said Gibran. He said the technical implementation of the CFN would be regulated by the Solo City Transportation Service (Dishub). In addition, he said, a number of entertainment stages are also expected to enliven CFN to welcome the New Year's Eve 2022 to 2023. Entertainment activities will be regulated by the Surakarta City Tourism Office (Disparta). The Solo City Government also provides fireworks to enliven New Year's activities with its own organizing committee. However, he forbade people to sound firecrackers on New Year's Eve. Supervision, he said, would be carried out to ensure that CFN events run safely, comfortably, and lively. "Fireworks are allowed to enliven the new year, but the important thing is not to firecrackers," he said.
