COVID-19 Update As Of December 18: 67,678 Specimens Examined, New Cases 6,689

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. As a result, of the 67,678 specimens examined, 6,689 new cases were added.

"With the addition of 6,689 cases, the total accumulation of positive cases since the discovery of COVID-19 in Indonesia reached 650,197 people," was quoted as saying from the Ministry of Health's data, Friday, December 18.

Meanwhile, the number of cases recovered today has increased by 5,016, so that the total accumulation of patients who have been declared cured is 531,995 people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 124 and the total reached 19,514.

The province with the most additional cases of COVID-19 was DKI Jakarta, totaling 1,578. Furthermore, West Java ranks second with the addition of 987 cases.

Next, there is East Java with the addition of 819 cases of COVID-19, South Sulawesi with 531 cases, and Central Java with 354 cases.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta contributed most of the recovered cases with 1,238 cases, West Java 931 cases, East Java 599 cases, Central Java 379 cases, and Yogyakarta Special Region 199 cases.

Then there were three provinces that reported additional cases of less than 10, namely North Maluku, West Sulawesi and Aceh. Meanwhile, one province that did not report was Maluku.

Furthermore, there are also four provinces that do not report additional cases of recovery from COVID-19, namely West Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, West Sulawesi, and Maluku.

Currently, the number of specimens that have been examined has reached 6,674,678, with details of 6,559,203 specimens examined using the Realtime Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) method and the rapid molecular test (TCM) reaching 115,480.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was 62,617. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
