Riau Special Criminal Investigators at the Riau High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) found evidence of alleged corruption in the construction of the Senapelan Grand Mosque in Pekanbaru City.

Head of the Special Crimes Section of the Riau Attorney General's Office, Rizky Rahmatullah, said the findings were known after his party conducted a series of investigations. Now the status of the case has been raised to investigation.

Investigators have collected a number of witnesses and other evidence in recent weeks.

"After this, evidence will be collected again, so that the case is clear so that it knows who has been named a suspect," said Rizky, quoting Antara, Sunday, December 11.

Based on the information collected, physical work at the Senapelan Grand Mosque is budgeted for in 2021. At that time, the Public Works Department budgeted two activities worth tens of billions.

The first work with a ceiling value of Rp. 30,000,000,000 with an Self Estimated Price (HPS) of Rp. 29,935,600,000. This work was carried out by PT Nur Rizky Abadi with a bid value and a corrected price of Rp. 24,729,190,970.36.

The second work with a budget ceiling of Rp. 8,654,181,913 and HPS Rp. 7,804,810,000. The project was carried out by CV Era Dwi Gemilang with a bid value and a corrected price of Rp. 6,321,726,003.54.

The project being investigated is the second activity, because it has many problems.

This allegation of corruption in a historic mosque in the capital city of Riau Province is not the first time law enforcement has been detected. Several years ago, the Riau Prosecutor's Office had also investigated but it was not a matter of development but a restoration.

During the investigation, a number of people have been questioned in this case. Among them are the Riau Provincial Government Public Works Service and private parties who carry out the project.

Apart from the construction of a new building, this mosque had undergone restoration several years ago. Restoration also had time to cause problems because it had been included in the investigation of the Riau Prosecutor's Office.

This restoration was also protested by traditional stakeholders in Riau because renovations were feared of eliminating historical traces at the mosque.
