SURABAYA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Surabaya City finally completed the 2020 Surabaya Pilkada recapitulation. As a result, candidate pair number 1, Eri Cahyadi-Armudji won with a difference of 145,746 votes from his opponent Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman Sukirno.

The victory of the candidate pairs, which were promoted by PDI Perjuangan Surabaya and supported by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) and a number of non-parliamentary parties, was stipulated in KPU Surabaya Decree No. 1419 / PL.02.6-Kpt / 3578 / KPU-Kot / XII / 2020.

The final results of the Surabaya Pilkada recapitulation were read by the Commissioner of the Surabaya City KPU for the Technical Division of Implementation, Soeprayitno, at the Singgana Hotel, Surabaya, Thursday, December 17, 2020. As a result, candidate pair Eri-Armudji won 597,540 votes, and candidate pair Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman Sukirno received 451,794 votes. So that the difference reached 145,746 votes, for the victory of Eri-Armudji.

"Data on voters and the use of voting rights, for Eri Cahyadi-Armuji's votes were 597,540 votes, Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman Sukirno's 451,794 votes," said Soeprayitno, Thursday, December 17.

Based on data recapitulated by the KPU, he continued, in the 2020 Surabaya Pilkada there were 1,098,469 voters who exercised their voting rights. A total of 1,049,334 votes were declared valid and 49,135 votes were deemed invalid.

According to Soeprayitno, the number of ballots received, including backup ballots as many as 2,142,994, ballots returned by voters because they were damaged or incorrectly punched were 2,536. Whereas unused or unused ballots included 1,041,989 remaining ballot papers and 1,098,469 used ballots.

Chairman of the Surabaya City KPU, Nur Syamsi, stated that the recapitulation of the Surabaya Pilkada votes was valid, after Soeprayitno read the results. Syamsi also knocked on the hammer as a valid marker, accompanied by thundering applause from officers and witnesses.

"The recapitulation of the vote count for the 2020 mayor and deputy mayor elections of Surabaya was declared valid," said Nur Syamsi.
