SUKABUMI - Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) personnel were deployed to patrol around monitoring the impact of an earthquake with a magnitude (5.8) centered in Sukabumi City, West Java, on Thursday 8 December.

"We deployed two units of four-wheeled vehicles to carry out patrols to a number of locations in Sukabumi City as a step for assessing the impact of the earthquake," said PMI deputy chairman for PB Zaini in Sukabumi, December 8, Thursday, December 8, reported by Antara.

According to Zaini, until 09.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), his party had not found or received reports regarding damage, injuries or fatalities. In carrying out this assessment, his party also coordinated with the Sukabumi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

In addition to deploying two units of four-wheeled vehicles, one of which is an ambulance to evacuate residents if someone is affected by the earthquake such as injured and others, PMI also fielded six volunteer corps personnel (KSR) and seven sub-district-based disaster preparedness volunteer personnel (Sibat) to carry out monitoring. in their respective task areas.

"This patrol is an anticipatory step if there is an impact due to earthquake shaking and Alhamdulillah, until now there have been no reports of casualties or damage," he added.

Previously the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) informed that the M 5.8 earthquake that occurred around 07.50 a.m. WIB on Thursday, December 8 was located at the coordinates of 7.11 South Latitude (LS)-106.99 East Longitude (BT) 22 km Southeast of Sukabumi City at a depth of 104 km.
