Egg Price Rises Towards The End Of Year, DKI Provincial Government: High Demand

JAKARTA - A number of food commodities near the end of the year such as chicken eggs have begun to soar in various regions, including in DKI Jakarta.

Head of the Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Service (DKPKP) Suharini Eliawati admitted that the increase in egg prices had taken place last month. Eli explained that the increase in egg prices was caused by a large number of requests.

"The price of chicken eggs in November was observed to increase compared to October 2022. Based on data from previous years, before Nataru there was a trend of increasing the price of chicken eggs due to high demand," Eli said in his statement, Wednesday, November 30.

However, Eli guarantees the availability of eggs in Jakarta is sufficient until early 2023.

Then, to reduce the price stability of chicken eggs, DKI BUMD in the food sector will organize cheap markets, collaborate with the central government. This market activity is held at the village, sub-district, and administrative levels.

"In addition, the distribution of subsidized food for certain communities is still ongoing," said Eli.

In addition, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also coordinating with the Polda Metro Jaya to supervise food distribution to prevent hoarding and price games, including chicken eggs, which are now starting to rise in price.

"There is support from the Polda Metro Jaya regarding monitoring activities to provide and distribute food and law enforcement related to the violation that occurs. So, it is hoped that the public will not worry about the increase in food prices, especially eggs," he said.
