Commemorating Tree Planting Day, Dozens Of Children At South Jakarta Pesanggrahan Do Plantation

JAKARTA - A number of children took an environmental action by planting fruit tree seeds to commemorate National Tree Planting Day in the Pesanggrahan area, Jakarta, Monday, November 28.

The activity planted tens of guava trees, bay trees, and soursop trees to educate children about the importance of preserving and balancing nature.

"Early education is very important for us to teach them about how to grow crops even on narrow land or even plant trees to prevent flooding," said Hadi Susianto, activity organizer, in a written statement, Monday, November 28.

According to Hadi, this farming activity can provide education about the importance of going green amidst the onslaught of digitalization trends and the use of gadgets among children.

"This activity is believed to be an effective means of providing teaching and learning which will impact on the formation of children's character," he said.

Apart from planting trees, a number of children also listened to tree friendship-themed tales with cello dolls. The fairy tale contains a story about love for the environment.
