PBNU Congratulations To Haedar Nashir-Abdul Mu'ti, Who Is Elected Again To Defend Muhammadiyah PP

Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf congratulated Haedar Nashir and Abdul Mu'ti who were re-elected as General Chair (Ketum) and General Secretary (Sekum) of PP Muhammadiyah for the period 2022-2027. "Alhamdulillah, Pak Haedar and Mas Abdul Mu'ti have been re-elected. Both of us know that we have a strong commitment to advancing the nation and state," said Gus Yahya, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf's nickname in a statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, November 20. Congratulations were also conveyed by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of PBNU Saifullah Yusuf or familiarly called Gus Ipul. According to him, Haedar-Mu'ti as the General Chairman-Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) is a well-tested leadership duet in advancing Muhammadiyah. "This is a duet that has been tested to lead Muhammadiyah," he said. Both, continued Gus Ipul, are figures who have a strong commitment to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) and are able to be role models for Muhammadiyah citizens. “ Both of them have a strong commitment to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. It can also be an example for the citizens of the organization,” he said. In addition, Gus Ipul assessed that so far Haedar and Mu’ti have been proven to be able to bring Muhammadiyah into a large Islamic organization in Indonesia. They also have good relations with various groups, including with Nahdlatul Ulama. Previously, the Session of the 48th Muhammadiyah Congress in Solo, Central Java, had passed the election of the Muhammadiyah PP formatur. After e-voting and counting votes, there were 13 selected Muhammadiyah PP formaturs. Of the 13 names, Haedar got the most votes and was followed by Mu’ti in second place. Previously Haedar-Mu'ti was the General Chairman of the PP Muhammadiyah for the 2015-2020 period. After the congress was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Haedar Nashir's return to lead PP Muhammadiyah in the next five years was determined at the Plenary Session VIII of the Muhammadiyah Congress at the Educationorium of Muhammadiyah University Surakarta (UMS) in Sukoharjo, Central Java, Sunday.
