IPW Asks Trainers Who Watch Violence At PTIK To Be Given Sanctions

JAKARTA - Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso asked coaches at the Police Science College (PTIK) who witnessed acts of violence to be sanctioned.

According to him, the actions taken by the coach violated the law. The reason is that when there was an act of violence, the official silenced him and did not immediately report it to the relevant parties.

"In the law of a civilian official, state officials when they see a criminal act must immediately report or at least take action on their own, because it occurs in front of their eyes, must be examined and given a sanction, disciplinary and ethical sanctions," said Sugeng in his statement, Sunday, November 20.

IPW also asked the police to follow up on the case indiscriminately, even though the alleged perpetrator is the son of a high-ranking National Police officer with the rank of high commissioner (Kombes).

"Usting the legal process against perpetrators of violence to be processed by the South Jakarta Police is not indiscriminate, let alone protecting even though his father is a member of the police officer with the rank of Kombes," said Sugeng.

It was known earlier that a child of a high-ranking National Police with the initials RC (20) was reported to the South Jakarta Metro Police for allegedly beating his friend with the initials MFB (16) when he entered the Police Academy (Akpol).

The victim's mother, Yusnawati, said the incident occurred at the Police Science College (PTIK), Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on November 12.

The report has been registered with the number LP/3596/XI/2022/RJS, Saturday, November 12, 2022. In addition, his party has also submitted evidence of the results of the victim's post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Nurma Dewi, said that the incident began when the two were joking. However, there was a moment when the victim was accused by the perpetrator of taking his hat until the beating finally took place.

The trigger is that they joke, then the hat worn is still in the victim. So that's the trigger, so it's not too problematic. It's just a child, being a child. Maybe yes, the emotions are not stable," said Nurma to reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Friday, November 18.

Regarding the beating was carried out in front of his coach, the police are still investigating the testimony of witnesses. He said that currently his party had five witnesses being examined.

"It is still being investigated (about it being done in front of the coach). We have examined the witnesses, then we will collect all of them later. There have been 5 people, victim witnesses, victim's mother, coach, assistant coach, another victim's brother," he concluded
