JAKARTA - The police have investigated the bullying of a student at Baiturrahman Junior High School, Bandung, West Java, whose head was kicked several times by his classmates until he fainted.

The Head of the Ujungberung Police, Commissioner of Police Karyaman, said the bullying took place during a break during class hours. As a result, he said, victims need to be rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

"The person concerned was taken to the hospital for medical examination, and we have asked for the results of the post-mortem," said Karyaman at the Ujungberung Police, Bandung, West Java, Saturday, November 19, quoted by Antara.

The incident occurred on Thursday, November 17 yesterday at around 09.15 WIB. The act of bullying was also recorded in a 21-second video spread on social media that drew criticism from netizens.

In the video, the victim is seen sitting in his classroom chair and forced to wear a helmet while surrounded by his classmates. Then one of the perpetrators kicked the victim's head several times who was wearing a helmet until the victim fell to the floor.

The perpetrator, who is still a minor, has been detained at the Ujungberung Police. In addition, his party has also examined about five witnesses related to the bullying.

Even so, he said it was possible that there would be mediation efforts in the case. He also confirmed that the victim's condition had started to improve after experiencing violence.

"Because it does not rule out other efforts, it is important that we have carried out investigation and investigation activities later," said Karyaman.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Baiturrahman Middle School, Saifullah A Muthalib, regretted the bullying. He admitted that he would evaluate and tighten supervision at his school.

"We have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators through warnings, advice, and maybe the perpetrators will not do learning with other students (separated)," he said.
