PAPUA - Kaimana Regent, Freddy Thie revealed that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in 2023 poured Rp23 billion to reorganize Jokowi-Iriana Park and Jusuf Kalla Park (JK) in Kaimana Regency, West Papua.

"The proposal for this activity has been contained in the Settlement Infrastructure Development Plan (RPIP) that we have received and carried out in 2023 by the Ministry of PUPR," said Freddy, who was contacted from Manokwari, West Papua, Friday, November 18, as reported by Antara.

Freddy thanked all those who have supported the struggle to make Kaimana Regency better.

Some time ago Regent Freddy was accompanied by a number of Kaimana Regency Government officials to meet with PUPR Minister Basuki Hadi Muljono and his staff in Jakarta to ask for central government support for infrastructure development and development in his area.

Freddy also did the same to the Ministry of Transportation and various ministries and state institutions in Jakarta.

"Of course this is not just turning back the palms, we continue to communicate, meet and explain the needs and aspirations of the Kaimana community to the Ministry, not just once. Praise God our proposal has been answered," he said.

According to him, the Rp23 billion budget will later be used for the arrangement of the Jokowi-Iriana Park area and partly for the arrangement of the JK Park.

The Kaimana Regency Government built Jokowi-Iriana Park and JK Park in the center of Kaimana City, known as the 'Sunday city' as an expression of gratitude for President Joko Widodo's working visit with First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo to Kaimana on Sunday, October 27, 2019.

Under the leadership of Regent Freddy Thie and Deputy Regent Hasbulla Furuada who were sworn in on April 26, 2021, the Kaimana Regency Government continues to boost infrastructure development in the region to support regional vision to make Kaimana a tourism destination.

Not only in the tourism sector, Kaimana also made various breakthroughs for the development of agriculture and plantations and fisheries.

In order to realize this vision, the Kaimana Regency Government has collaborated with a number of universities such as Udayana University Denpasar Bali, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and the University of Papua (Unipa) Manokwari.

Regent Freddy said that there are many programs in related ministries and institutions that can be collaborated with the regions to accelerate development and improve community welfare.

"The most important thing is that we must continue to communicate and seek information in harmony with regional needs. I hope that all regional apparatuses are like that, because our APBD cannot be sufficient, we have to pick up the ball," he said.
