JAKARTA - Lebanon condemned Israel's bombing of air bases in Syria for violating Lebanese airspace to carry out the attack.

The Syrian military said the missile strike at Shayrat Air Base in Homs Province killed two soldiers and injured three others.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory on Human Rights said a warehouse for Iran's and Hezbollah militias in Shayrat was destroyed in Sunday's attack.

Israel is an enemy of Iran-backed Tehran and Hezbollah, a Lebanese armed group and a highly influential political party in Lebanon, active in Syria in supporting the Bashar Al Assad regime.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on Shayrat, "which caused a lot of death and injury, as well as material damage".

The ministry also described the attack as a violation of Lebanese airspace "and a direct threat to the safety of civilian navigation."

"This attack is a marked violation of international laws and conventions, as well as a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and its airspace by Israeli warplanes," the ministry said.

Israel has repeatedly infiltrated Lebanese airspace, to carry out attacks in Syria against Iranian and Iranian-backed forces during Syria's civil war.

It is known that Iran, Syria, and Lebanon do not recognize Israel and remain in a state of official war with the country.
